Important Information
Batches
Pre-Installation
Our tiles and pavers are produced in batches
and therefore each batch can vary in colour.
It is imperative that your delivery is checked
thoroughly before it is permanently fixed into
place. You should check that the batches and
colours are all the same. (For external paving
we recommend that a few paving slabs taken
from each pallet that you have on site is dry
laid before installing). Alway s make a record
of your batch number and we will do our best
to match or get the closest match should
you need more paving, however you should
always order at least 10% more than you
need to complete your job.
Always check the tiles or paving before
installation. It is imperative that you inspect
thoroughly before installation. If you are going
to be away while the job is taking place, then
you must always check that you are happy
with the product before you go so that your
installer can proceed.
Tolerances (on external paving)
Allow for extra cuts and wastage
Part of the process in producing porcelain is it
being fired at temperatures of 1400 degrees.
This can sometimes create bowing/warping and
therefore there is an International Standard
(ISO) which is ± 0.5%. This means that a
900 x 600mm porcelain tile can bow up to
4mm and still meet the ISO standard. Warpage
is usually more noticeable on larger porcelain
such as 1200 x 600mm. It is advised that using
the 2/3 bond method with reduce lippage.
When ordering your porcelain paving, we
recommend you purchase an additional 10% to
allow for cuts and wastage.
Tile Sizes
The working tile size refers to the actual
dimensions of a tile after the firing process,
which can cause slight shrinkage due to
manufacturing tolerances. While tiles are
typically labelled with a nominal size (e.g. ,
600x600mm), the true working size may vary
slightly from batch to batch. These variations
are an industry standard and do not affect the
tile’s performance or suitability for installation.

Once the tiles or paving has been permanently
fixed into place, it is deemed that the product
has been inspected and accepted and
therefore Spectrum Tiles & Paving take no
responsibility after installation.
Please Note: We are unable to accept any complaints
once material has been fixed. A shower/wetroom is
classed as an area that is in direct contact with water for
prolonged periods of time. Advice should always be taken
from a professional installer prior to installing tiles in these
applications.
